Chaos is born at the feet of a witch turned to goddess. Endeavour to create a flame that will start a new age of fire. Miserable failure inducing the creation of awful demons. Her children were swallowed by hellfire. Twisted and hollowed by eternity. Her sanity crushed by her failures, she sheds her skin on the throne. And becomes a new kind of beast, chaos finds solace deep within her bones. She destroyed herself, her children incinerated. The destruction of a once great bed of life cemented the inevitable degradation of a being once considered God. Chaos is born at the feet of a witch turned to goddess. Seven sisters, swallowed by flame. Tortured constantly, eternity in pain. A brother now turned to beast, so ceaselessly existing. Guarding the corpse of a mother long gone. The pain the flames have caused is never ending. Her own children, they lay abandoned. Rotting and mutating inside her memory. Scorched and burned. A once beautiful city of grandeur. Symphonic stuff in metal doesn’t make its way into my collection aside from a couple of early Cradle albums. The orch here though just ads to how huge this band sounds. It makes elements in the songs more immersive. There are plenty of breaks from orchestration where its in deathcore/slamming brutality mode. While not ignorant, the songs never play with time or get mathy making it accessible and memorable. Came out 2015? Impressed. Mitch Mitcherson
